Waddup r/streetwear! I'm asking this question because I'm curious. It seems like such a talked about thing but I feel like no one REALLY talks about it. I just want to propose the question: why do you thrift.Example: I thrift because not only is it a cool and fun experience, but it allows you to have a very cheap and ranging wardrobe without putting much emphasis on branding. Basics can be found anywhere and sometimes the simplest of shirts can become your favorites. It is a very personal experience for me and I feel better connected to my clothes. It also puts an emphasis on character and identity. Sure you can buy into Tommy and old polo stuff, but nothing screams personality more than putting a well but together outfit without much branding or "hyped" thrifted brands. Basically what I'm saying is fuck a brand, be your own brand. So why do you guys thrift? There's nothing wrong with liking Tommy or Polo stuff fyi, there's really nothing wrong with liking any brand. I think this world of streetwear is too blinded by the fact that wearing a brand and buying into a lifestyle makes someone cooler than another. Everyone is a person and should be allowed to do whatever they want, regardless of what trends Rocky or Kanye creating. Everyone is subjected to their own opinion on anything, and if you think something is cool then by all means rock that shit till you can't anymore.I feel like this has almost turned into a full blown rant. Anyways I just wanna know why everyone thrifts and if there is someone else that experiences this same personal connection that I get when I thrift. via /r/streetwear http://ift.tt/2tE22cT
