[evolution] I've been on this sub for 2 years now, here's how it impacted my style.

[narcissistic shitpost][note beforehand: this post is a timeline of fitpics of myself, I generally get good comments on my outfits and I got several PM's of people asking me why I was less active in the WDYWT threads last month, so I guess you guys got in my head and now this post exists]About myself: I'm 25, work a part-time job in retail, and freelance in graphic design. I live in a small country called Belgium. I'm 5'10 and weigh about 135lbs. My username is terrible but from all subs I frequent this sub gives me the least shit for it.Pre-2015: How I dressed before I got into streetwear, I'm a musician so I was mainly inspired by how the bands I liked dressed. I was also big into American brands for some reason.Early 2015: Started getting into drapy stuff, also started getting into sneakers with the super hype roshe runs. Didn't know the first thing about designers though. Rick who? Discovered this sub about a month after this picture.Fall 2015: Half a year into lurking r/streetwear. UB's still my favorite mainstream sneaker.Trying to combine my own style with the new stuff I likedEarly 2016: Oh fuck I copped geobaskets. 50% off, luckily, but still an obscene amount of money for shoes. As you can see my first fit with them was absolute trash. That's better already.Much better if I say so myselfSoon after that: Somehow got lucky and won an instagram raffle for yeezys. Going full hypebeast is still an optional path.I still like wearing stuff that reminds me of what I wore before I got into hyped stuff though. This is when I didn't post for a while. I felt like I had shown everything I got and was being repetitive.Summer sales. The second pair of Ricks arrived. I started getting into oversized stuff, mainly because I was trying to balance out the chunky Rick footwear. That hoodie is a replica FOG sweater from REON. I browsed fashionreps a lot but never bought anything (it's another way of learning about fashion and dope pieces, I recommend), until this Dutch dude was selling this hoodie on the sub. I went with "fuck it" and bought it. No regrets tbh, it's an amazing hoodie. Also inb4 "Leon the professional".Nearing the end of 2016. I still believe I have some personal, non-hype style left in me though. Wearing some not overhyped Y3 sneakers and Saint Laurent Paris D02 slightly waxed denim, which I copped for 70 bucks in a consignment store. Steal of the century for me. The hoodie is All Saints, a brand I'd like to own a lot more from.So I got my roomie into Rick Owens, and then stole his hoodie to go to an Ann Demeulemeester/Haider/Dries Van Noten stocksale.. No ragrets, also very jealous of that amazing hoodie.Stopped posting again. Same reason. No new pieces, strapped for cash, had to move and didn't want to bore the wdywt threads. Everything after this line is 2017.Yay I copped some stuff again. Rick Owens Tech Runners off grailed and Boris Bidjan Saberi 11 backpack on sale. This outfit made me feel a bit more "tech" than anything I've worn before, and tbh I really like it. Expect to see more tech inspired fits from me in the future. I kinda want one of those hip bags you can sling over your shoulder, I think it'd look dope on this outfit. Also VĂȘtements is a thing now. They do dumb shit on a large scale, something I always support. While I would never spend that obscene amount of money on a sweater, I still like the style, so some days I dress like this. The prisoners are replicas too. I've never actually worn them out, got them off ali as sweatpants to lounge around in but they're crazy thick and my legs get all sweaty in them when I sit in the couch. Quality is actually amazing, accuracy I don't really care about.Anyways, as I said in one of my latest WDYWT posts: I really don't know what the hell I'm doing at this point, but I really like doing it. Maybe I'm a shopaholic, maybe I'm -in my dad's words- a fashion queen. I know I like to dress myself in a way that expresses things I can't say with words. I used to draw, paint, make photos, write music... but none of those things conveyed what I felt like I can do with clothes. Putting together a good outfit also makes me happy, and not a lot of things can do that lately. This was a fun retrospect, inspired by some "evolution" and "before/after" threads. This sub has always seen a lot of criticism, both from within and from outside, but I know that in the last 2 years I've also had a lot of fun here. I'm not sure this is the kind of content this sub needs though, but I'll see I guess.Oh yeah, and AMA! I CBA to ID everything in the photos in this post, but if you want to know what something is, just ask. (Yes my favorite color is black, how'd you guess?) I'm always open to talk about streetwear and fashion in general over PM, so like some people did before you, just send me a message and we can chat.[ig] via /r/streetwear http://ift.tt/2kowDco
