This sub has a lot of power when it comes to what people wear. Mods control what is allowed to be posted by the WDYWT whitelist where only whitelisted members can post. This allows the mods to completely control what is seen on this sub.The problem I have with this method is that currently only a handful of styles are on the sub. The outfits that I see on the streets and on Instagram are much different from the fits on this sub. I still see more distressed jeans, champion hoodies and sneakers than I see Doc’s and slacks. It’s easy to say that they’re “unfashionable” but those outfits were what a lot of people still wear and like. I think that the whitelist keeps people from sharing different styles from different parts of the world. You could say it stops the feed from being flooded with posts but if you look at larger subreddits where posts are filtered by a karma limit are more interactive and have more posts but aren’t spammed. The system currently in place makes it hard for people new to fashion to really get into it because they have to whitelist to post WDYWT. Until they get whitelisted they can’t get advice from other users on what they can try.The purpose of this sub is to share outfits with each other and get inspiration from one another. The whitelist stops this from happening and mods chose what they want on the subreddit and not the people.TLDR: I think the WDYWT whitelist holds back new trends and new users from enjoying the culture. via /r/streetwear https://ift.tt/2Kw5bEA
