[DISCUSSION] Sick of Nike.

I know there’s gonna be people who are gonna say “there’s no ethical consumption under capitalism” and what not under this post and I’m aware of that but Nike is just beyond fast fashion they’re worse then the very little pay and abusive environment workers in Asia must face.They use Uygher Slave Labour and im sick of people not being aware of who the Uygher people even are.Just a quick summary, China is doing an ethnic cleansing/religious genocide of the Uygher Muslims in the Xinjiang province.Men are taken away from their families and detained in concentration camps that they call “re-education camps” (even with all the proof that that’s NOT what it is)They’re forced to eat pork, drink alcohol and are not allowed to pray or fast or grow beards or speak their native language and must speak Cantonese or Mandarin.Women are sterilized (they’re forced to take pills and shots that will not allow them to have children ever again) and they’re forced to sleep in bed with a Chinese solider, often times are raped and so are their children.Their children are taken away at a young age and tested on, and also forced to forget their parents and learn about traditional Chinese culture and not believe in Islam.Women, Men, and Children are in concentration camps where they are abused and killed daily: •electrocuted •head cut off •shot •forced to do stuff or they’re killed • beat to death • stabbed • drowned • starved • shackled And more.In those concentration camps they’re FORCED to do labour. They don’t get a choice or else they’re punished.They don’t even get payed so the “at least they make money” argument is out of the question.Companies like Nike, Shein and Zara profit off that because it’s almost like cheap/free labour.I don’t judge people for buying fast fashion from places like H&M, ASOS, Urban Outfitters, other popular shoe companies and what not. Because I never know a persons situation financially, emotionally, mentally and more.But Nike isn’t normal fast fashion. They’re pure downright evil. Shein as well.Please, I beg you, if you need shoes from Nike by them second hand or vintage or if it’s really a priority a reseller (although it still profits Nike this way, just not as much)If you need athletic wear please buy it from any wear else, adidas, under armour, gym shark.If you need cheap alternatives for clothes please by from Depop or Thrift or find any place else and please don’t buy from shein.I’ll understand if people TRULY have no choice at all and without these places they won’t be able to wear any clothes or go out but please try your best to not directly profit these companies (there are much more companies that profit off Uygher Slave Labour) a quick google search will give you a list.Thank you so much via /r/streetwear https://ift.tt/3e9qbCd
