Since the pandemic began, we've had a huge increase of traffic in the sub. In January 2020, we had about 1.5 million subscribers, in January 2021 we have almost 2.4 million. While this means we have had some awesome new users join and contribute, there has been a clash in some of our older members' and our newer members' opinions on things like what they consider streetwear. Some of our older members don't feel like the posts that get to hot (especially the ones with women in them) deserve to be there, as the outfits they wear aren't streetwear. In our sidebar we define streetwear as a "fashion movement that combines elements of countercultures around the world with modern street style". If you don't believe an outfit posted is streetwear that's fine. Downvote it. What isn't ok is going out of your way to comment things like this, this and this. We are a welcoming community, if you are worried about the meta of the sub you're welcome to discuss it in a discussion thread or in one of the general threads we have pinned. If you have nothing good to say, don’t say it. That said, you are allowed to criticize an outfit, as long as it's constructive. Saying things like maybe x shoe would be better than the one you have on right now, or I think a hoodie would be better than a crewneck are valid criticisms, and they help give the OP perspective on what they're wearing. Starting today, any asshole comments on a post like these ones:“Cute girl, can’t wait to see you on on hot”“This fit is trash, it’s only being upvoted because it’s a girl”“If a guy was wearing this it would get 10 upvotes”...will be removed and the user making them will be banned for 7 days after one violation and permanently on a second.Women are allowed to post here and are entitled to the same positivity we see on most of our male user's posts. If you do not like seeing women on here, please send us a message expressing your concerns through modmail so we can ban you. It'll make it a lot easier for us.On the flip side, there are some users who feel like seeing a woman on here gives them permission to make sexual remarks about their bodies. This is obviously never ok and will result in an immediate ban. This does not include "normal person" compliments, or compliments you would give a stranger IRL, like "I like your hair" or even better, "I like your outfit". If someone replies to a post with a gross sexual comment, please report it. If someone goes into your PM's after you've posted and makes a sexual comment, pls screenshot it and send it to us through an imgur link through modmail so we can ban the user.If you're new here and wondering where to start, check out our inspo megathread. We are talking about addressing other concerns you guys have, and will provide an update on other issues soon. We just wanted to announce this today. Also if you've been here a while and feel like this sounds familiar, it is.TL,DR: Starting today, if the essence of your comment is “this is only upvoted because the OP is female”, I’ll ban you (7 days first violation, permanent second violation). If you make sexist/misogynistic comments, I’ll ban you. If you make any sexual comments, I’ll ban you. Thanks for reading, I hope y’all have a good day. via /r/streetwear https://ift.tt/2MtnD6e
