Clueless Canadian tryna get "hip"

So i am the definition what most you might call an MFA'er. my outfits have always consisted of button downs, dark denim, and boots. Recently i have been told by my best mate that this isn't what girls our age want, they're more into streetwear.i don't know what sreetwear is, besides that fact that my best mate dresses in distressed denim, a super long t-shirt and black timberlands. The aesthetic is raw, intense and kind of artsy.I've gone through the FAQ's and i am still confused on what it is and whether or not i can incorporate my current wardrobe. I'm very low income and so i don't usually shop unless its second hand or clearance.The FAQ's talk a lot about sneakers and it just so happens my family has offered to grab me kicks because they think i run barefoot because i'm broke (if only they knew...)Now I've never owned whites shoes because i have basically ruin anything white and i absolutely tear shoes up, but i'm feeling i need to change. i'm a little bit of an athlete so i'm hoping i can get more training/running orientated shoes like Nike free trainers/ultraboost. i at least wanna be able to run short distances in these and be able to walk for 6+ hours without foot pain.Any suggestions on clothing essentials, or aesthetic or even just advice would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance for helping me outTLDR: I'm a noob and need swagger. via /r/streetwear http://ift.tt/1rsFI4A
