[DISCUSSION] When is it “streetwear”, and when is it not?

This argument comes up a lot in threads, so I wanted to ask here. Streetwear is a category of Fashion, which suggests that there are certain styles and looks that fall into the category. Similar to Hip-Hop, or Jazz being a category of Music. There are specific elements that allow a song to be categorized, even if it can fall into multiple categories. The same applies to an outfit. Yes, fashion evolves and styles change, but shouldn’t the outfits here still exemplify streetwear and at least show influences from earlier styles?
